Road Trip (Part 3)

We loved visiting Medford and the Walker family but it was time to start home. Our last stop on the way out of town was a drive by the Medford Temple. It is one of the small temples and looks very familiar but it was nice to just drive by.

So we started our two day drive toward home. Since this was the shorter of our drives we made a stop at a beautiful waterfall that was right off the highway. It made a great lunch break.

Burney Falls just outside of Burney California.

Emma was in one of her moods where she refused to look at the camera.

View from below.

So pretty.

It was all worth it though when she got to stop at the General Store and get a toy and an ice cream cone.

Reading books in our hotel room.

When you get tired of your toys on a very long drive you always have your toes!

Thank you so very much Walker family. We had a great time and really appreciate you letting us crash at your house and eat your food. Emma loved every minute playing with Dallin and still talks about him. Thanks again!
We love you guys!!

Medford Vacation (Part 2)

On Day 4 we headed to historic Jacksonville which has fun shops and restaurants along its main street in all the old historic buildings. But our first stop had to be to the park.

James really was enjoying this.

Poor Quinn.

After shopping just a bit we stopped for lunch and had some yummy Mexican food. After eating all the chips and salsa we played peek-a-boo until our food came.

This is James favorite game and Emma can always make him laugh the most.

After lunch it was back to more shopping. Here is a shot of some of the buildings. After all that Emma was the only one who bought anything.

Shopping is hard work so we stopped and had some very Delicious Italian gelato. Sooooo good!

After that we went back to Walker's and relaxed. Emma and Dallin had fun playing and eating watermelon.

James was entertained by Erin.

Later we made smores in the freezing cold.

But oh so worth it. Quinn, Dallin, Madison, Madison's friend, Erin and Jill

On Day 5 we headed to the Oregon Vortex, The House of Mystery. If you didn't already know this is the west's most discussed attraction according to them. We entered a world where the improbable is commonplace and everyday physical facts are reversed.

In an old mining shack that has slid off its foundation we observed people as they appeared to grow and shrink while walking across a level platform. we also watched a bottle appear to roll up hill. You can see our tour guide standing at a slant. The funny thing is she is on a level platform. Weird.

Don't take my word for it though, you can catch a show all about it on the travel channel.

Our last stop that day was to Ashland another town with great shopping and a beautiful park. It also holds the Shakespearean festival that was going to start the day we were to arrive home. Oh well, we will have to catch the one in Cedar City.

We decided to walk through Lithia park even though it was raining. It is a 92 acre park with playgrounds, tennis courts, a stream and many gardens.

Emma had to play at the playground for a little while.

She also loves to pick flowers out of the grass.

My favorite was the walk through a small Japanese garden.

The flowers on the trees were beautiful even it they were a little past their peak.

Then it was back to the Walkers for more great food and relaxing. Quinn, Erin, Jason and Jill

Road Trip (Part 1)

Medford Oregon here we come. We left Tuesday morning for our week long trip to visit Quinn's cousin Jason and his family before they move to Arizona next month. They have loved living in Medford and we had been wanting to visit. This gave us a little push. So we rented a van and headed out on a two day drive. The kids were pretty good. We had lots of toys and movies.

This was my favorite part though when they were both asleep. It was a long first day. After 8 hours of driving we pulled into our hotel in Reno for the night.

The kids were very excited to go swimming.

Quinn was very excited when we pulled in that night and saw the big hot dog.

We had to get pictures.

Gotta love a continetial breakfast.

As we went up over the mountains of Northern California we hit a snow storm.

Trying to keep the kids happy.

After another 5 hours of driving we pulled into the Walkers home in Medford. Emma and James were very excited to play with all the new toys. Emma loved Dallin's tool bench. We had the house to ourselves that night. Jason and Jill had been in Phoenix house hunting and didn't make it home when originally planned. They made it the next the night.

The next day we got back in the car for a 2 1/2 hour drive over to the Redwoods and the beach. It was beautiful even in the light rain and wind. Here we are at Battery Point Lighthouse.

Emma and Quinn exploring the tide pools.

James brought me every rock he could pick up.

Quinn and Emma running from the waves on Crescent Beach.

Playing in the sand and getting very dirty.

Paul Bunyan and his big blue ox, Babe outside the tree museum in the park.

Quinn expertly drove our van through the Tour Through Tree.

We let the kids take a break at the park.

Quinn and James walked through a redwood log.

We then went for a short walk through the redwoods in the rain. It was so green and very beautiful.

Me trying to wrap my arms around a redwood.

So tall!

Love it!

Back to the Walkers home. Emma was so excited to see Dallin. They had the best time playing together.
