March 13th James turned 11 even though he promised me he would try to stay 10. He started his Saturday birthday with a Robotics competition. Then it was home to presents and playing with friends. He got a puzzle, new beach towel, Mario collectibles, Nintendo Switch gift card and a new shirt and hat. He chose to make his own cake and decorate it with some help from Emma. All I had to do was buy the basketball figures. I love when they choose this! James chose Cafe Zupas for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed his cake and ice-cream. Can't remember if I mentioned this before but he also got glasses this year and is still getting used to them so doesn't wear them full time yet. I guess he does make a pretty great 11 year old. (One year ago on James' birthday (Friday) our Governor announced that schools would close on Monday and that everyone should stay home for 2 weeks to help flatten the curve of the spread of Covid-19. So that day we changed our b-day plans to an at home party instead of going to Dart Side with his friends. We were really hoping James' birthday would reset everything and we could go back to a more normal way of life. Unfortunately that did not happen but things are getting closer.)
