James' Birthday Part 1

James turned two years old two weeks ago. He had a very low key birthday. But that was okay with him. Grandma and Grandpa Van Bibber came by the Sunday before to give him a few presents.

He was so happy with his new Winnie the Pooh Lego set that he didn't want to open anything else. It took us a while to convince him there was more great stuff .
Finally he opened the rest. He was very happy with some new balls to play with outside. He is keeping a foot on this ball to protect it from Emma while he played with something else.
Horsing around with Grandpa.
We let him open presents from us on his actual birthday. He was very excited to have his own pillow pet just like Emma.
Another ball for outside.
Grandma and Grandpa Lavender came over to give him one of their presents so he wouldn't have to wait until we could all get together.
He loves the bowling set. Now I just need to teach him or Emma how to set it up.
Part two with the whole Lavender crew coming soon!

5k Success

Saturday March 10th I ran my first 5k race (3.1 miles) The race went really well. I think I chose a good one for my first race. It was completely flat and we got to run on a sidewalk. I felt so good I even finished at a better time then I thought was possible. I ran it in 28 mins. and 30 secs. I was running 10 min miles on the treadmill so I was very happy to come in faster than that especially since I hadn't been able to run much the last three weeks because of a never ending sinus infection. Thank goodness it was finally gone by race day.Pre-race
Look at her go!
Quinn's Dad came along to cheer to and was nice enough to run a little ways with me so I could have a drink along the race and not have to carry it with me.
The finish!
I beat Quinn to the finish. He and the kids were out cheering me on and thought they would have time to get to the finish before me but I stepped up my pace. I could have slowed down so he could get a picture of me coming across but I decided I wanted a good time.
After the race we let the kids play at the fun playground they have there.
We also went over and fed the ducks.

Then it was off to celebrate with some ice cream.
Now I just have to keep myself motivated to do another race.
I would like to do the one here in Woods Cross on Memorial Day.
***Just found out I place 43rd out of 190!***

St. George Vacation

So last weekend we piled into our new van. (Yes - I am now the proud owner of a mini-van. I love it. I can fit everything I want in it. There was no question as to whether we would take the big stroller because now I have all the room I want. It was heaven to to be crammed into our old Camry) Well enough about that. We headed to my sister Carly's place for the blessing of her baby and had a great 3 days with them. So since this is a vacation get ready for a butt load of pictures where I show off my kids.

First we hit the Carousel downtown on its opening day for the summer season. That's right SUMMER.

James didn't even cry this time. I hope he getting over his fear of rides.

Next we looked for a letter box for Quinn - sadly we couldn't find it.
What a cute boy even with his black eye - thanks to body slamming Emma off the couch.
Just an outside look at the Tabernacle, not ready for the tour with these kids yet.
Emma had fun chasing the water around and around as it moved.
Next it was swimming at Grandma and Grandpa Moore's.
James didn't cry here either. I think it was because it was a smaller pool and very quiet, just us. But I will count this as progress too.
The Great-Grandparents and newest Great-Grandson Owen.
Isn't he a cutie.
Emma and James enjoyed staying in Owens room and his enormous moose.
The next day we hit the Dinosaur Park at Johnson Farm and did some origami. I found out I am not good at this at all. They had displays of all kinds of origami dinosaurs. Jeff was able to join us today.
Emma and I standing in front of a T-Rex imprint (not found in Utah).
Emma loves this guy - don't know what he is but she loves him.
So this is what the museum has. Tons of Dinosaur tracks mostly from the same dinosaur. They uncovered them while building a sub-division when they turned over these huge slabs of rock. I will admit I thought there would be more to it but it is just one small building with the same thing in over and over (tracks). It was not interesting at all for the kids. I think the name is misleading by saying it is at Johnson Farm. I thought it was an actual farm and there would be tons to do or see. But that's it, just one building and a very small sandbox.
At least the kids enjoyed that and the weather was so nice.
Next stop a walk around the Temple.
Such a pretty day.
Now for the main event. The blessing of Owen Rock.
After church we all gathered at Jeff parent's home for a yummy lunch before heading home.
Such a cute family.
Isn't that a pretty backdrop.
The proud grandparents.
What cute grand kids - especially that one in the front.
Nice shiner!
