Museum and More Swimming

This week we got a year pass to the Discovery Gateway downtown. It is so close by we should be able to go more often than we did the aquarium and zoo. The kids had so much fun it was hard to get them to move on do a different area. They had so much fun we ran out of time to play in the fountain. This was fine by me because it was only 100 degrees outside. Much nicer inside. Grandma Van Bibber was able to go with us too.

Than the next day we were able to go visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Moore. These kids are sure spoiled. We swam, played a game and had a good dinner with ice cream for dessert. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Moore. It was great to spend sometime with you. I think we will be inviting ourselves over again!

Just after we started swimming a storm came up and we heard thunder so out we came. The kids were not happy at all to have to wait for it pass but playing Skip-bo and having a snack helped.

The storm did pass and we had a blast. These are kids are brown already and it's only the end of June.

Snow Bird

We had the place to ourselves this year but were only able to go up for one night. We left Thursday after the kids recreation classes and stayed till Friday evening. Thursday some friends came with us and it was so much fun to have them there. The weather was great and the scenery beautiful as usual. The kids slept much better than they did last time (no midnight freak outs). We did many of the things that I remember doing as a kid. We swam, ate junk food, got ice cream, walked to the Snow Bird Center, and went on the walk to the overlook. We just forgot to blow bubbles and ran out of time to play any games. But there is always next time. The kids love the water and I had to drag them out the second day but the pool was so crowded I was having a hard time keeping track of them.  Thanks so much Grandma and Grandpa Zundel for letting us use the room. We love you!

Silly kids - James was a party pooper at this moment.

The kids were given fish food by one of the works and had a blast feeding a ton of fish.

All the rides and activities were closed - we missed the season opening by one day.

On our walk the kids found this shelter.

We came upon a deer on our way back!

Summer is Here!

We are having fun this summer already. The kids have been at friends houses and they have been at ours. Most of that time is spent in the water. Swimming has been pretty popular for us this first month. From our backyard to the rec center to Grandma and Grandpa Moore's pool. Not to mention Snowbird. But we have fit a few others things in as well.

Most morning the kids have to do some reading and learning games on the computer. Emma also has a reading bingo sheet she is filling out that has her read doing different things. One day she had to read while wearing a hat, she chose her Dad's and another was reading under a tree.

At the Rec Center - we love this place.

Pirate James

Neighborhood Hike #1 - we hope to do more! We had 21 kids - some of us brought extras - and 5 adults. We did a nice family friendly hike which was good because we had to take turns carrying some of the 2 and 3 years olds. We also finished just a storm rolled in. Loved the Wild Rose Trail in North Salt Lake.

.

Neighborhood barbacue in very windy conditions. So windy that your hamburger bun was dry before you even sat down to eat it. But the kids had fun getting their faces painted.

The kids have also been participating in the Woods Cross City Recreation program. They both are doing a basketball class. Emma is also doing a science class and James adventure camp.

Emma learned the science behind homemade ice cream, yum!

End of School Activities

As the end of the school year neared the kids had some fun things planned. James had two field trips with his kindergarten class. One to the zoo and one to Harmon's grocery store. I tagged along on the trip to the store. On this trip we walked to the trax station and rode the train. James had not been on the train in a long time and was very nervous walking on and when it started. He asked to hold my hand even in front of his friends. Happy Mom. But then he realized it felt like you were hardly moving. We rode to Farmington and then got off and walked to the store. The kids got a tour and taste of brownie from the bakery. Then they each got a turn to ring of a few groceries. They loved it. Before heading back we had just enough time to walk to the pet store and check out the animals before heading back. Kindergartners have too much energy!

Emma also had a field trip. One of her classmates Dad works for KSL so they went there and had a great tour. They also got to be on the radio - FM100. Awesome but I missed it. Anyway Emma's whole second grade put on a great program. Most of it was the songs that they had been learning all year. They did great! It was amazing to watch her sing all the songs and do the sign language because she could never remember what she was learning when she got home. So  way to go Emma so much fun.

All the kindergarten classes also did a great performance. James was very cute and had a great time singing all the songs. His favorite song was I love my white shoes.

The last full day of school was field/water day. I volunteered and it was fun and hot and wet. The kids all looked like they had a great time. Most of the games were simply relay race or water fights. There was also water volleyball and an eye spy game in a swimming pool. Fun Fun Fun.

Last Day of School

Both kids were a little sad that school was ending. They both had really really great teachers. James because kindergarten is so much fun and only half day. Plenty of time to still play. Emma was old enough to know that things went really well for her this year and that she would have to leave her teacher. She is a little worried about next year. She wants to stay in second grade with this teacher. He was such a great fit for Emma and has inspired her to be a teacher when she grows up.

Emma's class was having a talent show and this was the talent that Emma decided to show. Her creativity! She built a castle with rooms and lots of details.

It included a bird house and a Darth Emma character.

No teacher will mark you tardy on the last day of school right?

Mr Paget - the best 2nd grade teacher

Mrs. Foster - the best kindergarten teacher

(She was so great even though she was diagnosed with some form of cancer and was going through chemo the last couple of weeks. We hope all goes well for her this summer. She is still planning on coming back next fall. We hope she is still teaching when Mia is 5.)
