Week 40 & 41 -

Week 40 - Dec. 14th - 20th

Wednesday we pulled ourselves away from the warm fireplace and went out looking for holiday lights. This year we took a scavenger hunt sheet for each of the kids with it and it made it so fun for the kids. We always love Founders Park in Centerville. This year they had a tunnel of lights to walk through. Such a fun night.

Thursday the girls went for haircuts. Mia had just enough hair to donate so she came home with a completely new look. It was a bit sad because now she won't let me do her hair but it will grow again and it's so cute.

Friday was the last day of school for the year and so the kids didn't really have much or any work to do. We spent the day making dipped pretzels, dipped Oreos, pecan turtles, and nut clusters. We did a puzzle and watched Christmas movies. Mia also made a very cute deer outfit!

Our greatest accomplishment this year was finishing the Book of Mormon as a family!
I am so proud of these kids and their budding testimonies.

We also started reading the Worst Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Week 41 - Dec. 21st-24th

Monday Grandma Van Bibber came to hangout for the afternoon. She and the kids made pretzel dipped snowmen. Then we played the game of life. It was so nice to be able to spend some time with Grandma!

Mia added a few more things to her deer outfit and just so we know her name is cupid.

That night we went out to see more lights. We visited the tree of life at the cemetery and then drove around the temple to read the Christmas story.  It was a great family night.

Wednesday we had the opportunity to do something special and meaningful. Our friends the Dahle's mentioned a service project they were going to. We tagged along. It was at a local church in our community. The pastor had collected food, clothing, shoes, and a few other random items to hand out those in need. We were able to bring all the items out of the chapel/warehouse so those in need could drive up receive the items. James and his friend handed out bags of lettuce. Emma and Caleb handed out coats. Mia was in charge of rolls and Quinn and I handed out boxes of food. It was a wonderful couple of hours.

That night we decorated cookies that Grandma Lavender and I had made.

Thursday was Christmas Eve. We started our day by visiting Great Grandma Moore then all the Van Bibbers came to our house with their own lunch. After lunch we had a family band. Emma played her clarinet with me on the flute and then a duet with Uncle Taylor. We all got to try the clarinet, even Grandpa Van Bibber. Then we all tried out Great Grandpa Zundel's trumpet which Taylor plays. Mia was having fun on the Ukulele which Grandma Van Bibber wants to borrow and try to learn. Then we played a few games. We also had an Egg Nog taste test. We decided a little bit of Egg Nog is all you need. That night Grandma Lavender came over and joined us for the kids opening up their new pajamas and then we watched few videos including the Nativity.

The kids are now ready for bed and are very excited for Santa to come!
They tried to recreate a favorite picture from a previous year with James' dog Big Red but it didn't really work.
