In one week we went from beautiful blue skys with warm days like this:

Riding her new bike.

James wishes he could reach the pedals.

At the park

Climbing, running, sliding.

Fun and Fright on Halloween Night

The kids had a great time on Halloween night. James really got into it. If the people were letting the kids pick their own he always picked at least two. It was so cute. Emma would ring the doorbell and James would stand there knocking until they answered. Emma still had trouble going to houses that had skeletons or scary stuff on the porch. It took awhile for her to accept candy from our neighbor who had a lifesize Frankenstein that talked and sang on her porch. James had no problem. At Emma's primary teachers house they had a bowl with a monster on it that moves when you put your had in well Emma wasn't going anywhere near it already and when James reached out his hand Emma jumped back and almost didn't accept any candy even from the non-scary bowl. So fun. This was my favorite house because they were frying up egg rolls in their driveway for all the adults who came by.

Well by the end of our street James started to lag behind and his pumpkin was getting heavy so we called it a night. Emma too which really surprised me but 45 minutes later she was ready to go out again. She just needed a breather I guess. A great Halloween but there is too much candy in the house for a Mom who is trying to be good. I'm going to see if I can use it to bribe Emma to stop sucking her thumb!

Enjoying a treat and toy from Grandma and Grandpa Van Bibber

The cutest witch and Darth Vader ever!
Once again we needed a sucker for a distraction.

Quinn even got in on the fun this year.

AHHHH - I can't get this picture to load the right way. But it was so cute of my three trick-or-treaters and the night was just perfect.

Checking out just half of her loot!

Tracey Aviary

On Saturday we headed to the Tracey Aviary for their spooktacular. The kids got to wear their costumes and see place decorated up for Halloween. After a scavenger hunt we handed in our check off list for a bag of treats for the kids. We had a great time on what will probably be the last warm fall day. We took a picnic lunch and just unjoyed the day. The kids had fun feeding the ducks and other birds. We also enjoyed a very small bird show (I'm so sad we missed the big one).

Gotta love suckers! It was just the thing to allow us a few shots with James wearing his helmet.

Seeing how they measure up.

A pelican caught two of the best looking fish I've ever seen.

This bird ate out of Quinn and Emma's hand.

Feeding the ducks.

Quinn and Emma watching the flamingos.

Happy Halloween!

Pre-School Halloween Fun

Monday pre-school was at our house. We talked about feels and expressing those feelings on our face so we got to carve a pumpkin. The girls got to pick what face I carved. Not one of the girls would put their hand in to help me clean the pumpkin out. They were all grossed out by it but so cute.

Looking at the pumpkin all lit up.
On Wednesday was out Halloween Party.

Our cute witch is all ready to go!

Here are the pre-school kids and some other friends singing a Halloween song all except for Emma who was having a moment.

Going on a scavenger hunt.

Cutest Darth Vader ever (even if he won't wear the helmet).

Some scary but yummy treats.

The scariest Darth Vader ever!

Temple Square

Emma has been asking to go visit the Temple for a while and we decided we should get there before the weather turns.

Emma has to feel any water she sees whenever we go.

Me, Emma and James
Wow, she stood still long enough. ( I'm holding onto her in the previous one)

We noticed the Beehive House was open so Emma and I popped in and had the Sisters show us a few rooms.

Emma always asks to see the big Jesus.

Ogden Nature Center

On Monday we visited the Ogden Nature Center with Grandma Van Biber. I don't think I have been here since I was in third grade. We had beautiful blue sky but it was a little warm. At least we got there before the rain came. We walked around the grounds and saw lots of grasshoppers, butterflys, dragonflys and a few other bugs. That was about it. The tree house was all right but a long walk to get there. The best part was looking at some of the birds they have there. We saw eagles, owls, hawks and a pelican. It was nice once but I don't think we will go back.

A den that the kids could walk through.

Heart Walk

A few Saturdays ago Quinn's work raised some money for the American Heart Association and decided to participate in their heart walk at Sugar House Park. It was a perfect day for it and we all had fun.

Ready for the game later that day
What a family - good thing Edwards picked red for their color since it was the Utah/BYU game later that day. I don't think Quinn could have participated if they had gone with blue.
