Birthday Celebrations!

On Wednesday, Emma and I took my Mom out to lunch and shopping at Gardner Village to celebrate her birthday. We were finally able to find a time to do it. Emma was so good despite our shopping running into her nap time. We had a great lunch and spent money on things we really didn't need. But isn't that what birthdays are all about?

Lunch!

Grandma was making Emma laugh so hard, it was her first time hearing Emma giggle!

At Gardner Village

Last night Quinn and I went on a Date!!! Hannah volunteer to babysit. We are so grateful for her and glad that she wants to spend as much time with Emma as possible before Daniel and she move to Ohio. Quinn and I went to see the movie GET SMART only it was sold out by the time we got there so we chose to see INDIANA JONES. We both liked it. It started a little slow and ended a little weird but the middle was great and very funny. Thank you so much, Hannah.

And finally today we went to lunch with Daniel and Hannah to celebrate Quinn's, Daniel's and Hannah's birthdays. It's only taken us a few months to get together. We had to wait for Daniel and Hannah to finish school. We ate at the California Pizza Kitchen at the Gateway. It was really good pizza but I'm not sure if it was $12.00 a person good. (Sorry Hannah - we know its your favorite place) Emma was so cute, she just smiled the whole time.

A rant about Windows...

Have you ever been running a few different programs in Windows (maybe even just one program) when Windows decides, much like the crabby old lady behind the counter at the DMV, that it has done enough work for the time being and it's not going to let you do anything? Of course you have, because it's WINDOWS!

This morning at work I had that happen to me. I was running Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Media Player, when Windows told me: "Oh no you DON'T!" Frustrated, I tried closing some of the windows, but to no avail. I tried clicking on them down on the task bar and closing them: also no luck. Finally I reverted to the old, reliable, "break glass in case of emergency," Ctrl + Alt + Del. We've all done this before, but what really irritates me about the process is this:

Guess what, Windows? I KNOW the program is not responding! If it WAS responding, I wouldn't have had to hit Ctrl + Alt + Del, would I? I would have just clicked on the magic little x in the corner and closed it all by myself!

A Busy Week!

What a busy week we have had so I will try to update you. It has been so hot lately and Emma loves her baths I thought we would try a swimming pool. I bought her a kiddy pool to play in and we tried it out last week. She loves it, she didn't even mind that it was a little on the cold side.

First day in her pool!

The next day, Wednesday June 18th, we headed up to Ogden. It was our monthly play date with my friends and their kids. We were going swimming in Melissa's pool. Brooke and her two boys were also coming. It was quite comical. Three adults, 5 kids, and swimming gear everywhere. We took up all the empty space in Melissa's condo. Most of us had a great time. Raiden, Brooks 1 1/2 year old did not. He was not very comfortable leaving Brooke even with his life jacket. Emma loved every minute. We tried out her new life jacket to make sure it worked for our up coming Bear Lake trip. It is quite bulky though so I only made her wear it half the time. By the time we went inside half the kids were crying because they were tired and hungry. I don't know how we got everyone and everything back inside but somehow once you become a Mom you suddenly have the capability to carry more than one person should be able to carry. Once all the kids were dry and changed we stuck them in front of the movie Toy Story while we changed, they were hooked. It didn't take long for them to fall asleep. Overall, our first play date was a success but when it was over we looked at each other and realized we didn't even get a chance to talk to each other. We decided our next activity would be something like the park where the kids could play on their own and we can sit and talk.

Emma in her life jacket, she is upset because we got out and I had to put her down for a minute. Life jackets are not comfortable to sit in!

Friday, Taylor (my brother) and Sophie (my parents dog) came for the night while the rest of the family was out of town. Emma was greatly entertained by both. She has just discovered the dog and follows her every movement. Emma has always loved Taylor because he makes silly faces at her. I was happy to have both there. It gave me a break from constant entertaining. Emma went swimming again in her pool and got her first taste of a Popsicle.

On Saturday we went bowling with Quinn's friend. Emma came along and got to try out her new hook on chair. She only last through one game in it though, then she just had to get out and join in all the fun with us.

On Sunday we attended my cousin's ward to hear him speak on his mission. He just returned from the Oklahoma, Tulsa mission and was very disappointed to never having seen a tornado. We had a great time visiting with all the family afterwards.

And finally tonight we attended the baptism of Erin Walker. She is the daughter of Jason, Quinn's cousin. Today was her eight birthday and they came into town from Oregon for the occasion. Today was also Quinn's father's birthday. We wish Happy Birthday to both and congratulations to Erin. We are so proud that you took this important step to return to your Heavenly Father. After the baptism we all went to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Yummy!!

Emma was growing restless by the end of night, so I caved and gave her a little taste of my icecream. She loved it!!

Happy Father's Day!

Friday night we got together with Quinn's family to celebrate Quinn's Dads Fathers Day and his Birthday. We had a wonderful dinner and ate our selves stuffed, opened presnets and played games. The whole time the grandkids were running around playing and Emma was watching everything. There was way too much going on for her to go to sleep at her normal bed time and she was so tired. But she was so good.

Sunday was Quinn's day. He says he really loves Father's Day now because he gets presents. Quinn got new socks, yeah! He also got a gel seat for his bike, water-guns from Emma for Bear Lake. And the most exciting present - hose reels for the yard. Whoo hoo! After church he was able to take a nap before we made the rounds. We stopped briefly at the Lavenders before heading to Grandma and Grandpa Zundel's for dinner with my family. Then a quick stop at Grandma and Grandpa Moore's before coming home to a hot house. We broke down and finally turned our central air on that night. Why can't we ever have a normal gradual warm up instead of going from 60 to 85-90 in one week?

Sitting Up, Teeth and a Bike Ride

Well this is the second time I have tried to write this post. I was almost done the first time and Emma woke up from her nap (early) and would not go back to sleep so I brought her down and tried to type the last sentence with her on my lap. Well she lunged for the keyboard ingoring the toy in front of her and hit the magical combination to erase several paragraphs and photos. After lugging the exersaucer in from the other room she is now sitting beside me out of the way while I try to quickly retype this before we head off to the library.

Emma being 6 months now is sitting up pretty well on her own. She loves it. She is able to play better with some of her new toys. She is also right on track because her two bottom teeth came in this past week. I am very happy, she is normally a very happy easy going baby but these last two weeks she has been fussy and a little clingy. I have had to go up to room several times a night in the evening because she has woken up in pain. Luckily she is always deep asleep by the time I go to bed and is able to sleep the rest of night with no problem.

Emma also loves to be naked. She discovered her feet about a month ago and has since been trying to grab them and bring them to her mouth. Yesterday she finally suceeded. Yum! If she is ever fussy all I have to do is strip her down and that buys me atleast 15 minutes.

Our Big Girl!

Whoops!

Toes!

A beautiful sunset behind our house, isn't the refinery lovely too!!

Last Saturday Quinn and I went on a bike ride with my parents and Grandpa Moore. We left Emma with Uncle Daniel. Hannah was visting a friend but don't worry Grandma Zundel was just upstairs. Just kidding Daniel, you did a great job. Emma was sound asleep when we got back. Anyway we head to the Jordan River Parkway for our bike ride. Grandma Moore was going to join up too but just as we started she got a flat tire. Despite Dads efforts to fix it the hole was just too big and so she had a nice quiet afternoon while she waited for us at the park. We rode 8 miles and yes I can still walk, barely. We haven't ridden our bikes since Memorial Day 2007. The parkway was really nice. The weather was sunny but not too hot. I just wish the parkway was closer to our house.
