Baby #2

For all of you who did not believe Quinn's gummy bear ultrasound here is the real thing.

This is our baby at about 11 weeks. It still has a large head but has arms and legs (if you look real close). I am now about 13 weeks along. We got to hear the heartbeat yesterday. Emma was very proctective of me at the office. She was not real happy with me lying on the table with blue goo on my tummy but she got really upset when I had the doctor take out my stitches. She was so cute but Quinn finally left the room with her because she couldn't get over it. The doctor was just glad she didn't hit him like another kid did earlier in the week.

We get to go back in three weeks instead of four. My doctor is trying to get me back on track, some how we got off. Also I will be 16 weeks along and he will try to see the gender of the baby for us. Yeah!! Emma did not cooperate at 16 weeks, she had her legs crossed the entire time so we had to wait until 20 weeks. Here's hoping this baby will not be so modest.

Crappy Birthday...to...you!

Lauralee turned 28 years young last Friday. It was going to be a magical, happy birthday weekend.

Instead...

*She spent the majority of the day at home chasing after our 22-month-old (when I got home from work and asked her how her birthday was going she said, "Just another day...")

*I got home from work late and didn't have time to wrap and give her her birthday presents before we had to leave for dinner. She didn't end up opening them until about 11 PM.

*She didn't get to eat where she wanted to eat (50-minute wait at Red Lobster) and instead had to settle for Training Table (0-minute wait).

*The movie we went to see (Julia and Julie) was rife with technical difficulties (two all-out interruptions, and a 15-minute "blurry phase" where it looked like we were watching a dream sequence. We weren't, unfortunately.)

So her birthday didn't go well, BUT -- we still had a Bear Lake weekend to look forward to. Lauralee and Emma left on Saturday morning, and I was going to join them on Sunday (I went to the USA soccer game on Saturday night). We're usually at the lake over Labor Day / Lauralee's birthday, and we always have a good time -- so much so that Lauralee has tried to call the event her "birthday week." So we were all looking forward to a great weekend.

Instead...

*Emma threw up all over the back seat just outside of Brigham City. Lauralee can handle lots of things, but throw up is not one of them. Frankly, it's amazing she was able to continue at all.

*Once at the lake, Laura accidentally cut her arm on a jagged car antenna. It was a nasty cut --we're talking down to the fatty tissue. Luckily E.R. doctor Uncle Bruce was there (shoutout to the Vernalites -- holla!) and was able to apply the 12 stitches it took to put Lauralee together again.

*Emma failed to nap at all on Saturday, slept only a few hours Saturday night (with long periods of screaming in between) and failed to nap on Sunday as well. Lauralee was miserable and sleep deprived when I arrived on Sunday. Her first words to me: "I need a hug."

So Happy Birthday Laura! Because nothing says "I love you" like a mostly non-special/second rate dinner/technically inferior movie/up-past-your-bedtime birthday present/throw-up covered/minor medical emergency/sleep deprived weekend! Love you babe! Don't worry. We'll make this right somehow.

August?

I can't believe August is over already and I haven't posted a single thing. I don't know where the time goes. We have been a little busier. I also picked up and extra day at work while one of my co-workers is on maternity leave so that hasn't helped either. Emma is still growing like crazy. She is turning in a two year old as well. One minute she is all cute and lovey and the next she is yelling at me because I didn't do something exactly right. We didn't do much in August. No trips anywhere except the park and to Farmington Pond last Saturday to feed the geese and to let Quinn go letter boxing. Here are some pictures from the last month.

One of Emma's favorite books. The monkeys keep telling each other, "Shh, don't wake up Momma". So that's what she's doing.

Emma loves to look at books.

At the park with Aunt Carly!

Nice shades!

Emma loves Winnie the Pooh. I dug my Eeyore out of a closet for her and she loves it.

Can't get enough Pooh.

At Farmington Pond feeding the very hungry geese.

Happy Girl!

Quinn found one of his letterboxes.

An unhappy girl because she couldn't climb down with Dad. She just sat and pointed and kept calling his name till he came back up.

Some nice horses but a little too close for Emma's comfort level.

And we have a runner!

And a climber - she is trying to climb in to get Pooh. Luckily she hasn't tried to climb out of the crib yet.

Emma loves to look at pictures of our family.

Emma's closet is one of her favorite spots. If she is hiding - then this is where she will be.

She loves to take books in there, close the curtains and read.

Watch out for the closet ghost!
