Week 11 - Memorial Day and Cousin Time

Sunday May 24th Grandma Lavender came for home church. It was nice to have another person to join in on the discussion. Later our friends invited us over for smores and we stayed till 11pm because it was so nice to visit with other adults!

Monday was Memorial Day and we visited Grandpa Lavender and a few others. We still miss him dearly! His Utah flag was there but Quinn also added a small rock painted with a U. We shared a few memories and a few tears. After getting drinks we went for a walk on the Lagoon Trail to find a letter box. It was a beautiful day! Then we got take out for dinner and ate with Grandma Lavender on her deck and played lawn games. She is such a great Grandma to still want to play games with my kids.

Wednesday Quinn took the day off because he has so much vacation it's use it or loose it. That afternoon I said I'm out of here. I ordered myself lunch from Cafe Zupas and ate by myself outside the restaurant. I then ran all my errands and did some shopping all by myself! It was so nice. I did come home with a new game - Disney Code Names. The kids love it!

Thursday Carly and the kids were in town. To get their energy out we took them to the bike park for a couple of hours before going back to Grandma Bibber's house to play on the slip-n-slide. Cousin time is the best.

These two cute girls rode their balence bikes more than any of the other kids and are getting much better on their bikes.

Boys always find a stick that looks like a gun.

Then we played a quick game of Disney Code Names.

Friday they came to our house. We got lunch from the school for the last time for all the kids and Carly and I had Zupas because it's our favorite and she can't get it in St. George. Then the kids played in the water and with Legos.

Saturday Aunt Mckenna came over and helped us start painting Emma's jungle mural wall. Emma is very excited. Then we headed to Ogden for Grandma Bibber's birthday party. We all gave her a new swing for the deck and had yummy pizza for dinner. Then it was boys against girls as always as we played Logos and Code Names. The cousins ran around and played hard.

That night on the way home we learned about a riot that happened in downtown Salt Lake. A peaceful protest for Black Lives Matter and police brutality in honor of George Floyd who was murdered had just about ended when a few people decided to turn the crowd. Spray paint was all over the Capitol building and public works offices. Businesses  were looted and two cars were turned over and lit on fire. One of which was a cop car. It was scary. The next morning we had our first of many discussions with kids on what was going on and how we can do better.
